Stoddard County Lincoln Day

I had the opportunity to speak to everyone at Stoddard County Lincoln Day.  The event was attended by 121 people and was enjoyed by all! The Elks Club did a great job with the food! I am looking forward to meeting with and talking with more people of the 151st District!

I have pasted my speech below:

I was approached last year about running for the 151^st House Seat and after much thought, prayer, and discussion with my family and close friends I made the decision to seek this seat.  I stand before you today seeking the privilege of serving you in Jefferson City.  In February, I was nominated by our 151^st Republican Legislative Committee to be your candidate for the State Representative position in the Special Election and I am running for this position in the primary election, both of which will be held on August 5^th.

To explain why you should vote for me let me begin by telling you what sets me apart.  I am the conservative candidate, committed to fighting for our Missouri values and principles in Jefferson City.  I have the life experiences and maturity that will enable me to unwaveringly serve you.  I have the tenacity to fight for what we believe in and value.  During the next few months, I will give you my all to earn your trust and to ensure you that I am the right person for the job. 

Being a life-long resident of Southeast Missouri has taught me that we are a diverse area with an incredibly talented group of people.  We have industrial and agricultural businesses both large and small.  We are fortunate to have great schools and great health care facilities right here at home. 

However, we must have a voice in Jefferson City that will work to support, promote, and protect our valuable assets and I pledge to do just that.

Through my own experience of being a parent of two daughters and having been a single parent for a number of years, I understand first-hand the struggles associated with raising children.  We want and work hard to give our children and grandchildren the best in life.  We want our kids to have opportunities right here at home so that when they graduate they can stay here and not move to some far off place.  

Working to support our local businesses and promoting increased job opportunities and reducing over burdensome regulations will be a priority for me as your State Representative.  

Having grown up on a farm, I know that our farmers have a product that they need to get to market.  In order to be more competitive, we need better roads for trucks to travel over and the locks and dams on the Mississippi River must be repaired.  As your state representative, I will work hard to fight for improved and expanded export capabilities.

With my experience of teaching in our schools for 8 years, I know that teachers want the very best education for their students and our local educators work very hard to provide this.  But with so much bureaucracy and interference from outside sources, this task has become harder and harder.  As your State Representative, I will defend local control of our schools and support the hard work being done by our teachers. 

I a member of the NRA, I understand the importance of our second amendment and as your state representative; I will not back down from defending our gun rights.

In the Southeast Missouri, we value life.  All children deserve the right to life and everyone innocent life is valuable.  I will not waver in protecting our prolife view.

In Jefferson City, I will work to ensure that our tax dollars are used wisely. 

I will work to protect our senior citizens from fraud and will fight to ensure that they receive the care that they so richly deserve.  

Having worked as a nurse the past 10 years, I understand how important healthcare is to all of us.  I will work to find ways to ensure that the physician and patient decide what treatment option is best.      

As the wife of a retired army soldier and having lived through his deployment to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, I understand the issues facing our active duty and retired military families.  As your State Representative, I will stand strong for our military and will support our soldiers, veterans and their families. 

Southeast Missouri has the potential to be the leader in Missouri issues; as your state representative, I will work to see that we fulfill this potential and I will work to see that we are a leader in Missouri that sets the tone for statewide issues.  

I guarantee you that as your state representative, I will work without ceasing to be your Principled, Committed and Conservative voice in Jefferson City.  If you chose me as your State Representative, you can rest assured that I will give my all to representing all the people of 151^st District.
